Sorbitol contents and table

The sugar substitute sorbitol hides behind the E-number E420 in the ingredients list. There are also other E-numbers representing compounds that contain sorbitol. These are E432, E433, E434, E435 and E436.

RaisinsSorbitol is also present in natural products, especially in dried fruits, the fruit of the rowan tree, and in pears, plums, apples, apricots, peaches and raisins.

Beverages such as wine (red and white each contain approx. 2-6mg/100ml) and beer (lager beer, 2mg/100ml) should be avoided by people affected by sorbitol intolerance.

The table below shows foods where measurements of sorbitol levels are available. The table is continuously being updated as soon as new sorbitol levels become available. Sorbitol levels are subject to natural variation and those given here should only be regarded as a general indication.
